More than 700 people were evacuated from the Bel Age Hotel in West Hollywood on Thursday night after a fire broke out in a ninth-floor storage area. The blaze was quickly brought under control and there were no reported injuries, authorities said.

The fire was reported at 6:42 p.m. and was brought under control in less than 30 minutes, Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman Lawrence Beals said.

Beals said the evacuation was precautionary. About 100 firefighters were called to the luxury hotel, at North San Vicente and Sunset boulevards near the heart of the Sunset Strip. Authorities had no immediate estimate of damage. The cause of the blaze is under investigation, officials said.
