‘Guerrilla Matrons’: Simply More Graffiti

One of the darlings of the Los Angeles Times is the so-called artist Robbie Conal. Despite the continued efforts to promote him, his diatribes seem unable to make it unless they are forced on the unwilling viewer by being plastered--without payment to the property owner or taxpayer--on public places.

Now we are told that four of “the nicest, smartest, angriest middle-aged women” Conal ever met are taking up the cause by pasting his posters around the city.

I work in Los Angeles and can attest that these smart women seemingly do not know the difference (or perhaps, being of the Conal school, don’t give a damn) between construction sites and other traditional places for posters and city property. The posters I have seen are on traffic signal boxes and similar public property. One is next to Los Angeles Trade Tech College and another next to the Music Center. They contribute to the ever-increasing impression that downtown Los Angeles is becoming one large trash bin.

I strongly doubt that these ladies would be so thrilled if another group espousing some view plastered their property with unsightly cartoons.
