Pat Austin became the first driver in Canadian history to cover drag racing’s quarter-mile in less than five seconds during qualifying for Le Grandnational Molson at Sanair International Raceway in St. Pie, Canada.
Austin, 27, of Tacoma, Wash., had a 4.957-second run at 286.53 m.p.h. in his first trip to the Canadian facility.
