Some phraseology from Ultimate Frisbee, in which the goal is catching the Frisbee in the end zone.

air bounce n. The upward rise a disk takes after being thrown in a downward direction. “The air bounce glided into his hands.”

biff n. Blocking the disk while diving in full extension. “That biff was an example of great defense.”

disk n. Common term for a Frisbee (No one calls it a Frisbee).

“Hey, dude, way to send that disk.

force v. To guard the opposing player in such a way that he can throw the disk in only one direction. “He could have hucked it here if he hadn’t been forced.

forehand n. Throwing the disk by flicking it off the forefinger; allows the experienced player to pass from either side of the body. “Without that forehand, I’d never have gotten that point.”

get ho v. To get horizontal, to fall.

hammer n. Specialized throw in which the disk is launched upside-down, over the head. “The only way that disk would have gotten there was with a hammer.

handler n. A player who can toss a disk to any location on the field. “You know, he’s not that fast, but he’s one sweet handler.

huck v. To throw the disk really, really far. “She hucked that disk so far that the police got 20 UFO calls.”

lay-out v . To land chest down on the ground with disk in hand; perhaps the ultimate goal of the game. “I played for hours before I got to lay-out.

stall count n. The 10 seconds a player has to throw the disk after catching it. “The stall count got to nine before he decided to send that disk.”

swill n. A poor effort. A lack of good play.
