Steel Dumping Charges to Be Investigated: The U.S. International Trade Commission said foreign steel products are injuring U.S. producers and proposed an investigation to determine the extent of the harm. After a preliminary investigation, the ITC, a federal agency, decided that there is sufficient indication of improper steel importing in several categories of specialty steel. Twelve American steel companies charged last month that 21 foreign countries are bringing products into the United States at less than fair market value and injuring domestic producers. The ITC’s decision means that the Commerce Department will now begin a full-fledged investigation of the complaint.
