Aerojet Electronic Systems of Azusa has been awarded a $49.5-million contract by the Missile Systems Group of Hughes Aircraft Co. to produce the warhead section of the TOW 2B antitank missile Hughes produces for the Army.

TOW 2B, the latest in a series of optically tracked, wire-guided infantry weapon systems, can be launched by ground forces or from mobile platforms. Aerojet developed the warhead section. Production will be done at Aerojet’s Azusa and Socorro, N.M., facilities.

Aerojet develops and manufactures advanced sensor systems for airborne and space surveillance, defense and environmental programs, and warheads and sensors for target-activated munitions.
