UAW Reaches Accord with Diamond-Star: The United Auto Workers has reached a tentative agreement on a new three-year contract covering 2,500 workers at Mitsubishi’s Diamond-Star Motor Corp. plant in Normal, Ill. Details were being withheld pending a ratification vote. Employees had kept working as negotiations continued after the previous contract expired in mid-July. Diamond-Star workers earn an average of $16.53 an hour under the current contract, the first reached after the plant opened in 1988.
