CHESS RESULTS : Spassky Defeats Fischer in Game 4; Match Tied

Former world chess champion Boris Spassky defeated Bobby Fischer in the fourth game of the “Revenge Match of the Century” on Sunday in Sveti Stefan, Yugoslavia. The score is now 1-1, with two draws.

Spassky, playing white, opened with the Queen’s Gambit, which Fischer accepted for the first time in his public career.

Spassky responded cautiously, and Fischer gained a small advantage.

However, in trying for a win, Fischer rashly weakened his position, particularly at move 28.
