If you’re looking to work up a good sweat for a worthy cause, this weekend’s Harbor Light Half Marathon and 5-K Run/Walk in San Pedro may be just the thing. You can even take the children along, and they’ll receive a T-shirt and a ribbon for their efforts.

What: Harbor Light Half Marathon, 5-K Run/Walk and Kid K.

When: Saturday. Aerobic warm-up, 7 a.m.; Half Marathon start, 7:30 a.m.; 5-K Run/Walk start, 7:30 a.m.; Kid K, 8 a.m.

Where: Race starts at Centre and 7th streets in San Pedro.

Background: Sponsored by the San Pedro and Peninsula YMCA, the 13th annual race through San Pedro donates proceeds from the race to the youth fitness programs at the YMCA. The race will feature computerized results, aid stations every two miles, prize drawings and refreshments. First-aid stations will be available.

Trophies will be awarded to the top two male and female finishers in the 5K and the Half Marathon (13.1 miles). Medals will be presented to the top three runners in each age division.

The Kid K is a fun run for children ages 3-12. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The Kid K starts at 6th and Beacon streets. Participants will receive a T-shirt and a ribbon.

Parking: Parking is available close to the Start/Finish area at the Pacific Place Garage, 222 W. 6th St. Both 6th and 7th streets will be closed, so cars must enter on 5th Street. Parking is free to runners before 7:30 a.m.

Entry fee: $18. Participants must register from 6 a.m. to 7:20 a.m. Saturday morning at the Sheraton Grand Ballroom, Sheraton L.A. Harbor Hotel, 601 S. Palos Verdes St., San Pedro.
