Former Ram Richard Huffman, 69, Dies at His Home in West Virginia

Richard Huffman, an All-American at Tennessee and an All-Pro with the Rams, died Sunday at his home after a short illness. He was 69.

Huffman, an offensive and defensive tackle, turned professional in 1947 and was named rookie of the year. He had four straight All-Pro seasons before jumping to the Canadian Football League in 1951 when the Rams refused to give him a pay raise.

He played seven years for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Calgary Stampeders and was later elected into the CFL Hall of Fame.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, and two sons. Services will be held Tuesday in Charleston.
