A SPECIAL REPORT: JUDGES

LOOK IT UP: Veteran attorneys generally agree that no local judge has ever matched in outrageous bench humor the late Dave Bach from North Municipal Court. Bach, who died in 1986, was legendary for his daily stream of one-liners. Such as: “Would the lawyers please stand to the left of the defendants so I can tell the good guys from the bad guys?” . . . And when a burglar asked what a guilty plea meant: “It means you did it, you’re sorry you did it, and to keep me from sending you to jail, you promise never to do it again.”
