SAN FERNANDO : Man Convicted of Swap Meet Murder
A 21-year-old Pacoima man was convicted Tuesday of shooting to death a security guard at the San Fernando Swap Meet.
A San Fernando Superior Court jury deliberated about three hours before convicting Ricardo Roldan of the June 3, 1990, murder of Roland (Lucky) Teal, 61, during a robbery at the swap meet.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Craig R. Richman said that Roldan shot Teal with an Uzi-style assault weapon when the guard tried to foil the robbery.
Jurors will hear testimony beginning Oct. 13 before deciding whether to recommend that Judge Ronald S. Coen sentence Roldan to life in prison without parole or to death.
