If a cracked rib sidelines wide receiver Sean LaChapelle for Saturday night’s game against Stanford, UCLA will have to rely on sophomore wide receivers Mike Nguyen and J.J. Stokes and redshirt freshman Kevin Jordan.

Nguyen, Stokes and Jordan have combined for 25 receptions this season. UCLA’s third-leading receiver, Jordan has nine catches for 59 yards, Nguyen has eight for 102 yards and Stokes has eight for 94 yards and a team-high two touchdowns.

Arizona limited UCLA to its lowest point total since a 38-3 loss to Oklahoma in the 1986 opener. The last conference opponent to limit the Bruins to three or fewer points was Washington, which beat UCLA, 6-0, in the ninth game of the 1968 season. . . . UCLA has been inside its opponents’ 20-yard line 12 times and has scored seven touchdowns and four field goals. . . . UCLA punter Darren Schager leads the Pacific 10 Conference with a 44.2 average.

UCLA, 3-0 before opening its Pac-10 season with a 23-3 loss at Arizona last weekend, might not have been prepared for the conference race by playing Cal State Fullerton, Brigham Young and San Diego State, which have a combined record of 5-8-1.

Of the Bruins’ three nonconference opponents, only San Diego State has a winning record.

UCLA’s next two opponents, Stanford and Washington State, have a combined record of 8-1.
