United Way has presented a $15,000 grant to Chinatown Service Center’s Los Angeles Relief Fund, which is helping Asian-American victims of the April-May riots.

The grant, made possible through contributions to United Way’s Riot Relief Fund, was earmarked for relief and recovery efforts in the Chinese-American community.

“Although the Chinese-American population was not focused on in the aftermath of the civil unrest, many people in this community were left devastated,” Herbert Carter, president of the United Way of the Greater Los Angeles Area, said in a written statement.
