CANYON COUNTRY : 2 Killed in Crash Involving 4 Vehicles
Two men were killed Thursday when their car crossed into oncoming traffic on Sierra Highway in Canyon Country and collided with three other vehicles, the California Highway Patrol said.
The identities of the dead men were unavailable, the county coroner’s office said.
Their car was speeding south on the highway north of Vasquez Canyon Road at 5:26 p.m. when it ran onto a dirt shoulder and swerved into northbound traffic, Officer Darrel Giefer said.
The car hit an oncoming pickup truck, slid sideways and collided head-on with another pickup truck, then was hit in the rear by a car, Giefer said.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and a male passenger later died at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia, a nursing supervisor said. Two men riding in one of the pickup trucks were taken to the same hospital with moderate injuries.
