Gish Biomedical Move: Gish Biomedical Inc. will move its headquarters and medical-device manufacturing operations from separate buildings in Santa Ana to a single, larger site in Irvine.

The manufacturer of specialized medical devices signed a 10-year, $7.2-million lease for a 150,000-square-foot industrial building in the Irvine Business Complex, owned by Isco-Irvine North General Partners in Los Angeles. The January relocation will more than double the amount of space the company now leases, Gish President Jack Brown said.

Brown said the company hopes to sublease some of the excess space until needed. If all of those plans work out, Gish’s actual costs in the new building will be close to what the company now pays, he said.

The company needed more space because of its recent success with new medical devices, Brown said, especially the Orthofuser, which captures blood lost during orthopedic surgery for use during postoperative recovery. The extra space will make the manufacturing process easier, he said.
