Wilson’s top singles player defeated Dianne Asis of Jordan, 7-5, 7-5, to clinch the Moore League singles championship. Rogers became the first female tennis player to win four consecutive league championships. She also had a perfect 32-0 record in league matches.
Other top prep performers:
Alijandra Arredondo, La Mirada High tennis player, capped a perfect year by winning the Suburban League singles championship with a 6-0, 7-5 victory over her teammate, Mable Hui. Arredondo did not lose a set all season.
Tina Chen, Whitney volleyball player, recorded 11 blocks and 16 kills as she led the Wildcats to a 12-15, 9-15, 15-11, 15-4, 15-9 victory over Delphic League rival Campbell Hall. The win clinched a spot in the Division V playoffs for Whitney High of Cerritos.
