SANTA CLARITA : City Panel Identifies Potential Savings

Spurred by recent state budget cuts, a city of Santa Clarita committee has identified more than $660,000 in potential municipal cost savings to more than offset an anticipated revenue shortfall of $360,000 for fiscal year 1992-93, city officials said Monday.

A total of $253,921, or more than a third of the projected savings, would come from deferred hirings for positions ranging from interns, clerks and maintenance workers to associate planners and engineers, the city’s Finance and Budgetary Information Committee reported.

The committee identified additional potential savings in categories including contract services, education reimbursement, travel and training, printing, postage, advertising and annexation.
