SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Lompoc scored four consecutive touchdowns and kept Los Amigos’ offense in check to post a 28-13 victory over the Lobos in a Division VII quarterfinal game Friday at Bolsa Grande High.

The Braves (9-3) will face Rancho Alamitos in a semifinal next week.

Los Amigos (6-4-2) took an early lead on a 13-yard run by quarterback Ape Tuato. That capped a five-play, 30-yard drive set up when the Lobos recovered a Lompoc fumble on the opening kickoff.

The Lobos had a chance to extend the lead after recovering another Brave fumble. But after Los Amigos drove deep into Lompoc territory, linebacker Jason Way stopped running back Junior Leofa on a fourth-and-goal play at the Lompoc six to end the threat.

Lompoc, the Northern League champion, then came to life, scoring two second-quarter touchdowns. The first, a 14-yard run by quarterback Jarrod DeGeorgia, capped a five-play, 48-yard drive. After an interception by Tony Harris, running back Jerome Hunt scored on a one-yard run, making it 14-7 at halftime.

DeGeorgia added an 18-yard run in the third quarter and Ed Wynn scored the Braves’ final touchdown, catching a 60-yard touchdown pass from Kevin Warren.

The Lobos’ Carlos Sianez closed the scoring with a 24-yard run with 2:03 left.

“I’m proud of what this team accomplished this season,” Los Amigos Coach Steve Bolton said. “Tonight, we just got beat by a better football team. We’ll be back next season.”
