Taxpayers Fight Back

Regarding “Defeat of Props. 158, 159” (Letters to the Editor, Times Valley Edition, Nov. 17), Ramona ZuTavern asked: “With the state budget mess of this past year and the gridlock in Sacramento still lingering, what were the voters thinking about when they voted these propositions down?”

The answer is simple: The above propositions would only create more government jobs and expense to the taxpayers, especially property owners, who pay more taxes that the average citizen.

Being a property owner who cannot afford to pay higher taxes to increase the government, which is already much too big, I voted against Props. 158 and 159, and also against the proposition to expand the police force, because it would have taxed only property owners. This is a discriminatory practice, punishing one part of society by the vote of all.
