Abductor Given Life Prison Term
TRENTON, N.J. — Former Exxon Corp. security guard Arthur Seale was sent to prison for the rest of his life Monday for kidnaping a senior company executive in a botched attempt to get an $18.5-million ransom.
Seale, working with his wife, Irene, kidnaped Exxon International President Sidney Reso on April 29.
But the crime went horribly wrong. Reso, 57, was shot when he was snatched outside his New Jersey house, and he died five days later in a sweltering storage locker.
Seale went ahead with the scheme and was caught on June 19 as he tried to pick up the money.
