DOUBLE DUTY: It’s a good thing Santa Claus has two knees. This morning at the Brea Mall he’ll be visited by 100-plus sets of twins whose parents belong to local Mother of Twins groups. “You can expect a lot of them dressed alike,” says Susan Gosland of Orange, mother of 3-year-olds. The cause: The twins all bring “practical” gifts for the Orangewood Children’s Home for abused and neglected children.

Helene Elliott was with the Los Angeles Times’ Sports department from 1989 to 2024, first as a staff writer and then, starting in 2006, as a columnist.
