Heart Drug Works for Bedouin Shepherd, 110
Associated Press
JERUSALEM — A 110-year-old shepherd is believed to be the oldest heart patient in the world to be treated successfully with an anti-clogging drug, a hospital said Wednesday.
It said the man, a Bedouin, has returned to living in a tent near Yerucham in the Negev Desert and tending his goats.
Because of possible side effects, the medication, streptokinase, usually is restricted to people under 75, said Tami Lunenfeld, spokeswoman of Soroka Hospital in the southern town of Beersheba.
