Council Weighs Subsidy for Riders
LA VERNE — Residents who use Metrolink for their daily commute will not be offered free bus transportation to the nearest station, but may receive a financial incentive from the city instead.
The La Verne City Council on Monday rejected a plan that would have called for the Pomona Valley Transportation Authority to bus residents to and from the new Metrolink station in Pomona.
The home-to-station service would have cost the city $10,000 in Proposition C transportation funds to serve an estimated 12 La Verne residents for six months, Assistant City Manager Jeff Allred said.
Mayor Jon H. Blickenstaff asked the city staff instead to draft a plan that would use the funds to pay residents who use Metrolink.
