Pair of Agoura Runners Honored
Agoura High standouts Ryan Wilson and Amy Skieresz have been named the Ventura County runners of the year.
Wilson, a senior, won the state and Southern Section Division II titles in addition to the Ventura County and Marmonte League championships.
Skieresz, a sophomore, was the runner-up in the Kinney West regional and in the state Division I championships, and she won the Southern Section Division I, Marmonte League and Ventura County championships.
Jack Farrell of Thousand Oaks and Ken Reeves of Nordhoff were named co-boys’ coaches of the year; Reeves and Agoura Coach Bill Duley shared the honor as girls’ coaches.
Thousand Oaks and Nordhoff finished second in the boys’ state Division I and IV team championships this year.
The Agoura girls won their third consecutive state Division I title and the Nordhoff girls finished second in the Division IV meet.
Bryon Ward and Dawn Krenik have been named Cal State Northridge’s male and female athletes for the month for November.
Ward, a 6-foot-3, 225-pound senior outside linebacker who was named to the All-Western Football Conference team, had eight tackles, including three for losses, and one interception in the Matadors’ season-ending 23-17 victory over Cal State Sacramento on Nov. 14.
Ward also had 16 tackles in Northridge’s 35-10 loss to Portland State on Nov. 7.
Krenik, a 5-7 senior outside hitter from Agoura High, helped the Northridge women’s volleyball team win 12 consecutive matches to conclude the regular season and earn its first berth in the NCAA Division I playoffs.
Krenik is the Matadors’ all-time leader in digs (1,102) and service aces (128), and led this year’s team in digs (441) and service aces (49).
Efrain Montes of Glendale College was named the Western State Conference men’s soccer player of the year.
