Cardis Corp.: The Buena Park auto-parts distributor lost $883,000, or 41 cents a share, for its second fiscal quarter, which ended Oct. 31. Sales came to $16.4 million. In the corresponding quarter a year earlier, the company had a profit of $21 million, or $9.35 a share, which included an extraordinary gain of $21.5 million resulting from the company’s fiscal 1991 debt restructuring and reorganization. Sales totaled $19.4 million. Cardis attributed declining sales this year to continued weakness in the California economy, coupled with the interruption of business at its Compton warehouse and retail store during April’s riots in Los Angeles.
