2 Firms Join on Fire Retardants

NEW YORK — Ferruzzi Trading USA said its Wilmington, Del.-based Himont Inc. unit and Monsanto Co.’s chemicals group have agreed to develop and market fire retardants and additives in the U.S.
Under terms of the agreement, the two companies will jointly develop and market Monsanto’s Phos-Chek P-40 fire retardant and Himont’s Spinflam MF82 halogen-free, flame-retardant additives. The products were introduced in Europe in 1991, a Ferruzzi spokeswoman said.
