DIAMOND BAR : Suspect in Slashing of Wife’s Throat Killed by Deputies
Sheriff’s deputies shot and killed a knife-wielding Diamond Bar man early Wednesday after he allegedly slashed his wife’s throat and advanced on deputies called to his house.
Thomas Patrick Flores, 31, died of gunshot wounds at 174 Cottonwood Cove Drive after Flores’ wife, Jenny, 29, had telephoned a 911 emergency at 3:14 a.m., Deputy Ron Weber said.
When deputies arrived at the residence, they kicked in the door and shot Flores after he charged into the hallway, brandishing a 14-inch butcher knife, Weber said.
Flores’ wife was found lying on a bed with her throat slashed. The couple’s 4-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter were in another bedroom, uninjured, investigators said. A bloody knife and a half-filled gallon container of gasoline were in the kitchen.
Jenny Flores was hospitalized in stable condition. The children were placed in protective custody.
