John Candelaria, a relief pitcher who spent the last two seasons with the Dodgers, signed a one-year contract to return to the Pirates. Candelaria, 39, played for the Pirates from 1975-1985. He was the top left-hander in the Dodgers’ bullpen during the last two seasons, but was allowed to leave the team as a free agent this winter after going 2-5 with five saves and a 2.84 earned-run average in 50 relief appearances last year.
