Stanford’s Bev Oden Is All-American for Fourth Year in Row

Stanford senior Bev Oden became the first women’s volleyball player to be named first-team All-American for four consecutive years when the American Volleyball Coaches Assn. announced its team Wednesday.

Oden, a senior middle blocker from Irvine High School, is the third member of her family to be named an All-American, joining sisters Kim (Stanford) and Elaina (Pacific).

Also named to the first team were UCLA senior middle blocker Marissa Hatchett, a former Sunny Hills player, and UCLA senior outside hitter Elaine Youngs of El Toro High.

Florida setter Heidi Anderson, a former Esperanza player, was named to the second team.
