PREP ROUNDUP : Rodriguez’s Goal Is Just Enough to Lead Orange

Robert Rodriguez scored 15 minutes into the second half for Orange in a 1-0 victory over Saddleback in a nonleague boys’ soccer match Thursday at Orange.

The goal was Rodriguez’s seventh this season. Geronimo Serna had eight saves for his third shutout.

Orange is 4-1-3. Saddleback is 4-2.

In other nonleague matches:

Diamond Bar 2, Sunny Hills 1--Patrick Daniali and Rich Rauch had back-to-back goals late in the second half for host Diamond Bar (4-2-1). Sunny Hills is 2-3-1.

Tustin 2, El Modena 1--Josh Rasmussen scored five minutes into the second half to break a 1-1 tie for visiting Tustin (2-1). Jeff Stapleton also scored for Tustin and Greg Tsipkis scored for El Modena (2-3).

In nonleague girls’ soccer:

Brea-Olinda 0, Rosary 0--Rosary goalie Robyn Leohardt and Brea-Olinda goalie Julie Evers kept the game scoreless. Leohardt, a freshman, had seven saves and Evers, a junior, had 12 saves. Rosary is 3-2-1.

El Modena 1, Tustin 0--Kristi Hales scored for El Modena (5-0-1). Tustin is 1-2-1.

Sunny Hills 4, Foothill 0--Senior forward Jamie Gardiner scored three goals for Sunny Hills (4-1-1). Teammate Megumi Takasaki had the other goal and goalkeeper Danielle Broschak recorded the shutout.

Trabuco Hills 1, Orange 0--Forward Lindsey Rogers scored the game’s only goal after taking a pass from Tammi Daman in the first half. Goalie Shannon Pickett had three saves for Trabuco Hills 6-1. Orange is 3-2-2.

Villa Park 3, Fullerton 0--Susan Mendez and Liz Green scored in the first half and Angela Martin scored in the second half for host Villa Park (5-3-1).

University 1, San Clemente 0--Kathleen Pitches scored midway through the second half and Jill Krupoff had 12 saves for host University (1-2).

Los Alamitos 3, Ocean View 2--Los Alamitos rallied for three goals in the second half with Michelle Schneider’s game-winner coming with about five minutes left at Los Alamitos. The eighth-ranked Griffins are 4-2-1.

Orange Lutheran 6, Santa Ana Valley 0--Brooke Parkinson, Laurie Juranek and Shawnna Johnson each scored two goals for Orange Lutheran (3-2). Brandi Affeld had five saves for the Lancers.

Westminster 6, La Quinta 0--Mindy James had three goals, Carries Shinen added two and Kelly Ray had one for visiting Westminster.

In Sunset League wrestling:

Westminster 52, Marina 24--Mike Yim pinned Chip Crutchfield only 45 seconds into his 160-pound match to help Westminster (6-6, 1-0 in league) to victory.
