Loyola Women Defeat Rice, 66-55
Freshman center Amy Lundquist had 14 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks to lead the Loyola Marymount women’s basketball team to a 66-55 victory over Rice Thursday night at Gersten Pavilion.
Sheri Brown, a transfer from Fresno State, had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Lions (3-2), who led, 26-16, at halftime and outrebounded the Owls, 59-38.
Rice (3-1) was led by Yalonda Steiner, who had 20 points and 12 rebounds.
The Lions will conclude a three-game home stand when they play host to Western Illinois (1-2) on Sunday and Utah (3-1) on Monday.
Loyola is offering free admission to Sunday’s game against Western Illinois as part of its annual High School Appreciation Day. Reservations must be made in advance for the 3 p.m. game. Information: (310) 338-4534.
