Countywide : Collection of Shoes for Homeless Begins
Members of the Ventura County Podiatric Medical Assn. have launched their annual holiday “Shoes for the Homeless” drive, asking residents to contribute used footwear that can be given to needy men, women and children.
Any type of footwear, from tennis shoes to dress shoes, can be dropped off at the offices of 16 participating podiatrists--physicians specializing in foot disorders--throughout the county, said Richard J. Robinson, the association’s secretary.
The shoes will be accepted through the end of December. They will be given to the Oxnard Rescue Mission and other charity groups for distribution to the homeless, Robinson said.
Podiatrists participating in the shoe drive can be located by calling a toll-free number, 1-800-690-3668.
