The Crusaders’ star scored 65 points and grabbed 35 rebounds in three games as she led her team to the championship of the Valley Christian Tournament in Cerritos. Veasley scored 24 points and had 10 rebounds as the Crusaders defeated Whitney High of Cerritos, 75-18. She added 17 points and 14 rebounds in a 74-32 win over Bellflower, then helped her team clinch the championship with 24 points and 11 rebounds in a 45-28 win over Pius X of Downey.

Other top prep performers:

Ebony Charles led Artesia to the consolation championship of the Valley Christian Tournament. The senior center recorded 45 points and hauled down 60 rebounds in three games. Charles scored 16 points and grabbed 21 rebounds in the Pioneers’ first-round loss to St. Joseph, 44-40. She added 12 points and 17 rebounds as the Pioneers bounced back with their first victory of the year, 34-24, over league rival Mayfair. Artesia then defeated La Serna, 55-42, as Charles led the way with 17 points and 22 rebounds.

Cindy Prado, a Pius X basketball forward, helped the Warriors to a second-place finish in the Valley Christian Tournament. Prado scored 18 points and had 17 rebounds in a 48-17 victory over Mayfair. She scored 18 points and grabbed 20 rebounds in a 71-22 win over St. Joseph. In the championship, she was held to one point as the Warriors fell to Valley Christian, 45-28.
