BOYS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Nothing Tops Generals in Tourneys
Los Angeles Officials Tournament Most Valuable Player Craige Slaughter continued his brilliant play Wednesday night, scoring 23 points, dishing out five assists and making four steals to lead the Washington Generals to a narrow 68-64 win over the Carson Colts in the championship game of the Los Angeles Invitational tournament at East Los Angeles College.
In winning the L.A. Invitational, Washington (9-1) captured its second tournament championship in as many games, after downing Crenshaw on Tuesday.
The first of the L.A. Invitational’s two championship games was originally scheduled to be played Dec. 19, but was delayed until the completion of the L.A. Officials Tournament.
Forward Dayron Harris, who was selected L.A. Invitational’s MVP, had four rebounds and three blocks for the Generals. Carson’s high-scorer was Chris Ramsey with 20 points, five rebounds and a blocked shot.
Records: Carson 7-4; Washington 9-1.
