California IN BRIEF : LUCERNE VALLEY : 3.7 Aftershock Rattles Desert

A small earthquake rattled the Mojave Desert on Saturday, but there were no reports of injuries or damage. The magnitude 3.7 temblor occurred at 4:18 p.m., said Susan Perry, a seismologist with Caltech. It was centered near Lucerne Valley, a town about 70 miles east of Los Angeles. The quake was an aftershock of the twin Landers-Big Bear quakes June 28, Perry said.
