California IN BRIEF : OAKLAND : Cat That Vanished in Fire Gets Second Life
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Fourteen months after vanishing in the deadly Oakland Hills firestorm, a black-and-white cat named Disney is back home with her owner. Disney turned up recently at an animal shelter in Berkeley and was noticed by a volunteer from the Firestorm Pet Hotline, just hours before the cat was to be put to death. The volunteer took a photo of Disney and found that it matched a photo in the group’s files. “Every time I look at her, I’m just so glad she’s back,” owner Kristine Davis said. “She’s so lovable.”
