Pasadena : Gunman Steals Jewelry
An armed robber got away with more than $70,000 worth of gold and diamond rings Monday as the owner of a Pasadena jewelry store shot at him with a handgun, Pasadena police said.
Lt. Wayne Hiltz said the lone robber entered Vosgy Jewelry on East Colorado Boulevard about 5:45 p.m. and confronted an employee with a handgun, demanding that she open jewelry cases. But the woman retreated to the back of the store and summoned her husband, also an employee, Hiltz said.
The husband armed himself and returned to the front of the store, where the robber was smashing a display case with the butt of his gun, Hiltz said. The employee fired two shots that missed the robber, who grabbed a tray full of jewelry and fled on foot, the lieutenant said.
