Mark Recchi scored two goals and Rob Brind’Amour had a goal and two assists as the Philadelphia Flyers beat the San Jose Sharks, 6-2, Wednesday at Daly City.
Philadelphia is 2-0-1 in its last three games with 21 goals during that time. San Jose is 1-15 since Nov. 25.
Philadelphia took a 4-0 lead before Tom Pederson and Ray Whitney scored in the first 1:35 of the third period to make it 4-2. Philadelphia’s Garry Galley scored at 8:08 and Gord Hynes followed at 13:00 to restore the four-goal margin.
Rob Gaudreau, San Jose rookie right winger, was held scoreless for the first time in his 13-game career. Gaudreau had 14 goals and five assists during the streak.
Mark Recchi opened the scoring at 4:47 of the first period, skating around Sharks goalie Jeff Hackett and pushing the puck into the back corner of the net from just in front of the crease.
The Flyers made it 2-0 with 3:51 to go in the first period, just seven seconds after Hackett was called for interference on Recchi. Brind’Amour, coming off a six-point game against the Kings Tuesday, scored on the power play by knocking in the rebound of Recchi’s shot from the slot.
