BOYS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP
In the Canyon tournament consolation:
Bellflower 66, Magnolia 50--Shaw Tyler scored 22 points to lead Bellflower to a third-place victory over Magnolia.
Servite 67, Cerritos 55--David Downs scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Servite (4-6) to fifth place.
Australia Nunawading A 70, Canyon 55--John Werhas scored 26 points and Tony Pappas had 18 for Canyon (8-6). Travis O’Sullivan had 16 points for Nunawading.
In the Chino tournament:
Fullerton 58, Chino Don Lugo 48--Senior forward Gabe Viramontes had 21 points, eight rebounds and three assists for Fullerton (8-5). Don Lugo is 5-9.
In the Fiesta Bowl Classic:
North (Phoenix, Ariz.) 64, El Toro 45--Jim Lewis and Jeff Bone scored 15 and 13 points, respectively, for El Toro (4-8) in the third-place game. Bone made three three-pointers. Lamoine Henry scored 19 points for North.
Newport (Wash.) 81, La Quinta 64--Newport (7-3) rolled to a 12-point lead in the first half and La Quinta never recovered in the seventh-place game. La Quinta (2-8) got 14 points from Todd Snyder, who was named to the all-tournament team.
