PANORAMA CITY : Gas Station Clerk Is Fatally Shot
A gas station clerk was shot and killed in Panorama City during a robbery, Los Angeles police said Wednesday.
Norair Akhverdian, 42, of Sunland was shot once in the upper torso and died about 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Panorama City, said Detective Michael Oppelt.
Witnesses told police a man entered the Shell station at 12858 Roscoe Blvd. about 7:30 p.m. and pointed a handgun at Akhverdian and demanded money, Oppelt said.
The gunman fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
“He shot the clerk as he was leaving,” Oppelt said. “The victim was cooperative.”
The gunman drove off in a 1970s to 1980s Jeep Cherokee and remains at large, Oppelt said.
