In Brief
* * * Utah Saints, “Utah Saints,” London. Good songs--if borrowed ones--are what make this English duo’s debut album an attractive techno collection, including two singles from last year, “Something Good” (using a strong Kate Bush sample) and “What Can You Do for Me” (with Annie Lennox and Gwen Guthrie snippets). But even original compositions show sonic and textural imagination, notably “Trance Atlantic Glide”--sort of Philip Glass gone disco.
New albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
