Bobby Hurley’s reputation as an offensive threat continued to grow Monday night against Clemson.

Hurley scored 16 of his 21 points during the second half as third-ranked Duke defeated the Tigers, 93-84, in an Atlantic Coast Conference game at Clemson, S.C.

All five of Hurley’s three-point baskets came at crucial times for Duke, 18-3 overall and 6-3 in the ACC. The Blue Devils have won five in a row since losing two of three during a stretch in January.

Duke missed only one of its final 23 free throws and finished 27 for 32 from the free-throw line.

“That’s something we didn’t do in January, convert free throws very well,” Hurley said. “Now, down the stretch we’ve been able to do that, and that’s a big reason we’ve been successful lately.”

Grant Hill made 13 of 15 free throws and scored 25 points for the Blue Devils.

Sharone Wright had 21 points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots for Clemson (12-7, 2-7), which has struggled in the ACC after winning its first nine games of the season.
