PREP ROUNDUP : Bolsa Grande Ends 7-Game Losing Streak
Robert Fierro had 20 points to help Bolsa Grande defeat La Quinta, 62-47, in a Garden Grove League boys’ basketball game Monday. The victory stopped a seven-game losing streak.
Fierro also had 10 rebounds for the Matadors (7-15, 2-11 in league). Joe Linck had 11 points and Kevin Doane added 10 points and 12 rebounds for La Quinta (6-16, 4-9).
In Garden Grove League girls’ basketball:
La Quinta 53, Bolsa Grande 29--Linda Rodriguez had 18 points and 14 rebounds and Bonnie Gondringer had 14 points for visiting La Quinta (13-8, 6-7). Michele Robinson had nine points for Bolsa Grande (3-19, 1-12).
In Freeway League boys’ soccer:
Sunny Hills 3, La Habra 0--Chris Roselli scored twice for host Sunny Hills (10-6-3, 6-0-2).
In the Garden Grove League:
La Quinta 6, Bolsa Grande 5--Pat Ferry scored five goals and Jack Irving had one goal and four assists for visiting La Quinta (6-10-1, 4-7-1). Miguel Mendez scored three goals for Bolsa Grande (2-11-1, 1-9-1).
Santiago 4, Rancho Alamitos 1--Rafael Mosqueda scored two goals, giving him a school-record 27 this season, to lead visiting Santiago (12-3-2, 10-1-1).
In the Sea View League:
Saddleback 3, Newport Harbor 0--Juan Arreola had two goals, Jose Rodriguez had two assists, and Eddie Lopez had one save to record his ninth shutout for host Saddleback (15-4-2, 8-2-2), ranked sixth in the county.
