De La Rosa’s Killers Bear the Sole Blame
We will continue to experience an accelerated breakdown of our criminal justice system and an associated collapse of our society as long as we continue to have the type of confused, irrational thinking experienced by Superior Court Judge J. Kimball Walker at the end of the recent trial for the killers of Detective Tony De La Rosa (“3 Sentenced for Killing Officer,” Jan. 28).
In his criticism of the police sting operation, Judge Walker, like too many others, seems to lose contact with one basic, undeniable fact. The criminals involved were not forced to commit their crimes against society. They knew full well that what they were doing was illegal. They still chose to proceed.
It was their choice to break the law, and they, solely, should be held fully responsible for any and all consequences of their misdeeds.
Remember, none of this would have happened if the would-be criminals had just decided to stay home. Simple, but true.
