One man was shot dead and another wounded at a Long Beach wedding reception after an argument over seating arrangements, police said Sunday.

Samuel Dealva, 33, of Long Beach died at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center after he was shot in the head during a reception Saturday night in the 3600 block of Santa Fe Avenue, said Long Beach Police Lt. Philip King.

Angered by the location of his seat, an unidentified young man fired a handgun on the dance floor, hitting Dealva and another man. Police said they believe the two victims were not the intended targets.

The second unidentified victim was hospitalized at the medical center after being shot in the shoulder. Police believe that the bullet passed through Dealva’s skull and struck the second man.

The gunman fled the scene. He was described as about 20 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds.
