Garcia helped Glenn clinch the Suburban League championship with two victories. He scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, in a 3-2 win over La Mirada. He then scored three goals in a 6-0 victory over cross-town rival Norwalk High.
Other top prep performers:
Charles O’Bannon, an Artesia High basketball forward, scored 27 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in a 56-44 win over Bellflower. He then helped Artesia clinch its fourth consecutive undefeated Suburban League season with 29 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 blocked shots in a 73-61 win over La Mirada.
Everett Ratleff led the Jordan High basketball team to a perfect Moore League season when he hit a three-point shot as time ran out to defeat Poly, 56-53. Ratleff, a guard, scored 26 points in the game.
