1992: 16-4, 9-1; shared Sunset League title with Huntington Beach; finished 10th in the Southern Section Southern Regional.

Outlook: Marina has interrupted Huntington Beach’s Sunset League dominance, winning the league title in 1991 and sharing it with the Oilers last season, and Crider believes with five starters returning, this team has a shot at another title. Ohshima and Rea, who finished first and second, respectively, in the league finals last season and second and third the year before, are two of the better players in the county. Last season, Rea shot better than 70 in three consecutive 18-hole matches. Crider does have a concern, however. “Because we did well last year and have so many returning starters, on paper we’re pretty strong,” Crider said. “But I’m concerned that some of the individuals haven’t really prepared themselves well for this year.”
