Janet Reno

In your otherwise admirable editorial (Feb. 13) about Janet Reno, you perpetuated an unfortunate myth when you wrote that the Immigration and Naturalization Service is “the stepchild of the Justice Department.” I and the many other stepparents I know make extra efforts on behalf of our stepchildren. In this age of divorce and remarriage, to imply that all stepchildren are neglected is both unkind and untrue.
