How can it be that the 30-year-old Mussolini “remembers her grandfather as a man so tenderhearted that he cried when a Christmas tree was cut down,” an event that must have occurred about 18 years before her birth? Fascism must require not only suspension of the intellect but also the laws that govern time and space.
